influences

ok so I didn't necessarily look at certain artists but I researched different pieces based on their theme or how they relate to my work. I explored many different options and took a couple different angles to different aspects of my concentration.
The first and most basic element of my work is psychology and the mental effects my work has so I wanted to see some other "mind-art" and these pieces were ones that tested a person's level of observation and perception and their eye for details.
The next angle I took to my concentration was the idea of color. For this I found works by Karen Leeds very interesting. She worked with oil pastels, acrylics, and also dyes on silk. She paid a lot of attention to how certain colors go together and lines that will portray certain things and also how the eye will see the colors as more than just color but as a way of telling a story.
The last approach I took to influences was artists who worked with mixed medias and I found an assortment of pieces that people did to express patriotism, emotion, and personal stories. These work with various textures and also the use of color helping add to the overall tone.
